I first came across this product line in the fall of 2024 when I noticed red, spotty eczema on my dog Halla. I read that chlorhexidine helps with many skin issues in dogs, so I ordered the Douxo S3 PYO shampoo online to try it out. The shampoo seemed really good, so I ended up ordering the pads as well for flare-ups and skin maintenance.
This in-depth product review is for you if any of the following apply:
- Your pet has recurring skin infections (bacterial or yeast)
- You’re dealing with hot spots, itchy, or irritated skin
- You want a semi-gentle antiseptic product for skin maintenance
- You’re looking for specialist-recommended, easy-to-use skin care products
Since then, I’ve been using products from the Douxo S3 PYO line because they’ve been effective and reliable. I’ve already gone through three bottles of the shampoo. I do have one critical thing to say about one of the products in the line — keep reading to find out which one it is and why! ⬇

What is the Douxo S3 PYO Product Line?
The Douxo S3 PYO product line is a range of skin care products made for dogs dealing with skin issues like bacterial or yeast infections, hot spots, or irritated, itchy skin.
It’s basically a gentle antiseptic line designed to clean the skin, calm irritation, and help restore the skin’s natural barrier, which is super important if your dog has recurring skin problems like mine does.
The product line includes a few different options depending on what your dog needs and what’s easiest for you to use:
- There’s a shampoo for full-body washes when things get really flared up
- A mousse that you can leave on without rinsing (great for spot treatments or when you don’t want to deal with a full bath)
- And cleansing pads that are for wiping down small problem areas like paws, skin folds, or under the collar.

Who Should Use Douxo S3 PYO Products
Douxo S3 product line is best suited for dogs experiencing skin issues such as bacterial or yeast infections, itchy spots, or irritated, red skin.
It’s a great pick if you’re looking for something that’s effective but still gentle and well-tolerated.
The mousse is made for dogs only, and while the pads are safe for both, you shouldn’t use them between a cat’s toes. So if your pet’s skin needs some extra help getting back to healthy, this line is a solid option to have around.
If your dog tends to get things like hot spots, skin fold problems, or those stubborn areas that just won’t clear up, try this!

My Hands-On Experience with Douxo S3 PYO Products
The Douxo S3 Pyo Shampoo

This is the Douxo S3 product I’ve the most experience with.
We (Halla & I) are currently on our third bottle, and even that one’s already half gone. Next, I’m planning to get the bigger size of the shampoo bottle.
The shampoo itself is thick and a bit gel-like. I’ll admit, I use a bit more of it than the instructions recommend — it says 1 pump per 2kg (4.4 lbs), so in Halla’s case, I should be using just 4 pumps, but in reality, I probably go through 6 or 7.
I’ve been using it by alternating between this and a moisturizing shampoo when I wash my dog. I always try to let the product sit for 10 minutes, if possible. This routine has worked really well for maintaining her skin — she’s only had a rash twice this spring, and when I added the mousse as an extra treatment, the rashes on her neck and groin completely cleared up.
The Douxo S3 PYO Mousse

The mousse is a super-effective product for skin maintenance. If your dog has widespread rashes or something like furunculosis on their paw, I’d honestly order this right away along with the shampoo! I regret not getting the mousse sooner.
You’re supposed to use the mousse every other day for a three-week course. It’s applied to clean, dry skin and left to dry — no rinsing!
The mousse does leave the fur a bit rough and stiff when it dries, but once you brush the area, that rough feel goes away, and it doesn’t leave the coat sticky at all. The pump bottle is also really easy to use.
The Douxo S3 PYO Cleansing Pads

The cleansing pads turned out to be pretty useless for us. They’re meant for those hard-to-reach areas, but the pads are bigger and thicker than a regular cotton pad, and honestly, they just don’t work well for a small dog.
The pads have the exact same active ingredients as the mousse and do the same job — cleansing the skin and helping maintain the skin’s natural barrier.

I actually found it way easier and more effective to apply the mousse with a cotton pad to small areas like my dog’s cheeks. Maybe these pads would work better for a short-haired dog, but for a spaniel, they just weren’t a good pick. I won’t be buying another jar of these.
Douxo S3 PYO Pros and Cons Summary
| Pros: | Cons: |
|---|---|
| Affordable and effective | Not really hydrating, actually dried my dog’s skin |
| Free from soap, sulfates, parabens, nanoparticles, colorants, phthalates, and silicones. | Chlorhexidine has a strong odor; the added coco-vanilla fragrance does nothing. |
| Veterinary dermatologists recommended (by ours, too!) | Pads are useless (for long-haired dogs) |
| pH-adjusted formula |

Final Thoughts
Before Halla’s skin issues, I had never even heard of Douxo or chlorhexidine. Now I can spot these products in every pet store and veterinary clinic. When I took Halla to see a skin specialist for her rash, they also had Douxo product lines for sale at the clinic.
I completely understand why Douxo S3 PYO products are recommended by veterinary dermatologists. Despite its strong scent, the products are effective, long-lasting, and genuinely helpful!
Where to Purchase Douxo S3 PYO Products
You can buy Douxo S3 PYO products from most major pet supply stores, both online and in person. A lot of vet clinics also carry them, especially if your dog’s been prescribed a skin care routine. But honestly, the easiest place to get them is Amazon.
They almost always have the full range in stock, and you can often find better prices or bundle deals there, too. Plus, it’s super convenient when you need to restock fast. Just make sure you’re buying from a legit seller or directly from Douxo’s official Amazon store so you know you’re getting the real thing!
